A scary moment for the Greenland Police Chief as a driver says he fell asleep at the wheel and nearly caused a head-on collision with a police SUV.

It happened Tuesday morning, Chief Gary Ricker was involved in a car accident on Wilson Road in his 2-month old 2013 Ford Explorer police sports utility vehicle.  Chief Ricker believed the vehicle was totaled.

He said regardless of losing his first new car in about 10 years, he is happy everyone walked away without injuries, "Everybody walked away and that's the important part, stuff can always be fixed, you know, it's a whole lot easier to fix cars than it is to fix people."

According to Chief Ricker the Arkansas State Police were called to the scene to work the accident.

The Greenland Police Department is now down to only three cars in its fleet.
