Study Finds Longer Rides To Work In Arkansas

The report is the most extensive study of Americans` driving habits in the past ten years and shows that commutes are getting longer just about everywhere.
The researchers looked at the number of workers who could drive to their jobs in 20 minutes or less in 1990 and again in the year 2000.
In 1990 half of all commuters beat that 20-minute mark. This study show the number has dropped to 47-percent.
In Arkansas the change in travel time is up about 3-and-a-half minutes.
By broad geographic areas the Northeast has the longest average commute time at 27-and-a-half minutes with just over 11-percent having a commute more than 60-minutes.
In the south the average travel time is almost 25-minutes with just over 7-percent having a commute of more than 60 minutes.
