Governor Huckabee joins other notable AGLOW award recipients including Charlton Heston, former Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar and former Sen. Gaylord Nelson.
The Governor has a long history of dedication to the outdoors. Upon taking office in 1996, Gov. Huckabee led the way for passage of Amendment 75, which created additional funds for the state Department of Parks and Tourism, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the Department of Arkansas Heritage and the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission. In 1997, Gov. Huckabee was named the American Sportsfishing Association Man of the Year, and in 2000, he was inducted into the Arkansas Outdoor Hall of Fame.
AGLOW is a non-profit organization made up of communications professionals from across the outdoors industry. Their mission statement reads, "Dedicated to communicating the outdoor experience in word and image." AGLOW is based in Benld, Ill. and has more than 300 members in 30 states.
