Wal-mart unveils new web strategy

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
Some 2,000 pages showcase over 900 categories of inventory items in the largest makeover the site has seen since its inception six years ago. Pages are less confusing and less cluttered - while the site is easy to get around and back. Wal-mart expects 90% of its web customers to be in an actual store at least once a month and so the two ways of shopping will be similar. In a 13-minute webcast (which can be viewed at the new website), officials said they are making an effort to show individual items - especially furniture - in the same context as they would be used in your home. Wal-mart reported yesterday it was cutting back on its spending and new store construction. Wall Street greeted the news by boosting the store`s share price. (Copyright 2006 Newsroom Solutions, LLC)
