Wal-Mart October Sales

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
Sales have gone up by only one-percent this month, but they expect lower gas prices to help raise that number. Scott told a group of analysts Tuesday that he wanted to correct the perception that the company was comfortable with October`s poor sales Wal-Mart hopes to combat the problem by launching holiday discounts earlier than usual. The company will focus heavily on promoting electronics like flat-panel TV`s, mp3 players, game consoles and laptops. Wal-mart is also stepping it up a notch by bringing in brand name televisions such as Sony and Samsung. However, this aggressive campaign has raised concerns about increased competition from specialty chains like best buy and circuit city.
