Fayetteville had an average home price of $227,050, behind Starkville, Mississippi - home to Mississippi State - at $169,433; Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Louisiana State University), $173,317; Knoxville, Tennessee (Tennessee), $175,250; Oxford, Mississippi (Mississippi), $179,550; Columbia, South Carolina (South Carolina), $190,058; Nashville, Tennessee (Vanderbilt), $209,300; Lexington, Kentucky (Kentucky), $209,588; Athens, Georgia (Georgia), $218,880; and Tuscaloosa, Alabama (Alabama), $226,050.
Fayetteville was followed by Auburn, Alabama (Auburn), at $233,700; and Gainesville, Florida (Florida), $259,950.
The most affordable college town was Lubbock, Texas - home to Texas Tech - at $164,133, while the most expensive town was Palo Alto - home to Stanford - at $1,550,000.
