Clinic Uses New Tool to Detect Skin Cancer

A local dermatology clinic is using a new tool to detect skin cancer.

Missy Clifton, the owner of Premiere Dermatology Clinic, says Melafind can "see" into skin to help find melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer.

The dermatologist says sometimes it is hard to tell if a mole is something more serious without performing a biopsy, but the tool uses a computer vision system to scan underneath the skin without cutting into it making it simpler to detect melanoma early.

"If I can prevent someone from going through unnecessary pain of a biopsy when its not necessary, then that just makes their day," she says.
