Company to ramp up sales and marketing

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
President and CEO Jeff Gardner said Wednesday the pure-play wireless company for the third quarter reported losing 41 thousand access lines - a 4.2 percent loss from the same quarter last year. Gardner said while many consumers are foregoing wireline service in favor of wireless, Windstream will encourage customers to keep wireline service in their home for safety reasons. The company says making a 911 call from a landline phone is more reliable than doing so from a cell phone. Gardner also said Windstream will become more aggressive in selling its full bundle of services, which include voice, broadband and digital television. Windstream reported 55 thousand new broadband customers in its third quarter earnings report, increasing broadband customers by 48 percent over the same quarter last year. Gardner said that by the end of the year, up to 80 percent of Windstream customers will have broadband available to them. (Copyright 2006 Newsroom Solutions, LLC)
