Happy Columbus Day

"In 14-hundred and 92, Columbus sailed the ocean blue," a famous poem states.

Today America celebrates with the holiday named in honor of explorer Christopher Columbus.

It was on October 12, 1492 that Columbus landed in the New World.

The historic event is celebrated the second Monday in October.
