"We've had to adjust for other guys missing time and whoever's there has to step in and play," head coach John L. Smith said Monday.
"It's tough to see one of our senior captains go out like that but he's still being a vocal leader and everything like that," junior defensive end Chris Smith said. "It's tough to lose a guy like that but when you do that, other guys have got to step up."
"And that's what we've tried to tell them over and over again," John L. added. "Whoever is in this room can make plays. Go to the field and do it."
The Razorbacks have been adamant about not making excuses this season, especially during the hard times. But with the latest injury to Alonzo Highsmith, the number of players on this team who have dealt with health issues is staggering.
"You always know that there's going to be one, might be two," John L. explained. "The season ending ones are the ones that just take the wind out of you."
"There's always a little bit of a drop off when you go to the next in line," quarterback Tyler Wilson described. "That's the difference in a great team and other teams is how quickly you can fill that gap."
Still no time table for the injuries to Chris Gragg or Tank Wright, but positive news for Tevin Mitchel. The cornerback's been cleared to play this weekend.
