New information on a school bus accident in Bentonville that sent a teen to the hospital.

According to the school district, the driver who hit a 17-year-old last week looked away from the road just before the accident happened.

The driver told the district she looked into the rear view mirror to speak to a student as she approached the intersection of 14th and P street in Bentonville.

The driver says when she looked back at the road she saw the girl walking across the street.
The accident report states the bus hit the girl and the impact threw her thirty feet.

Tuesday, the Bentonville Police Department stated quote "At the time of the accident, the bus was passing through this intersection on green traffic signal."

The preliminary results made by police also said, "At the time of the accident, the pedestrian was crossing the highway without a protected signal."

Bentonville Police Chief Jon Simpson wants to reiterate, this investigation is not closed.

Right now detectives are reconstructing the accident to determine more factors that contributed to the injury.
