FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - In an abbreviated scrimmage, the University of Arkansas men's basketball team put head coach Mike Anderson's 'Fastest 40 Minutes' of basketball on display with the fastest 20 minute scrimmage to officially open the 2012-13 season at Primetime at the Palace in front of an estimated 4,000 fans.

In the matchup, the White team pulled away with the victory, outscoring the Red team 39-33. The Red team went on a 14-4 run late in the scrimmage to come within five, 36-31, but it wasn't enough to top the White team when the buzzer sounded.

Leading the White team on the court was BJ Young with 10 points including two crowd-electrifying dunks. Marshawn Powell led the Red team with a game-high 13 points.

Earlier in the evening, the Razorbacks participated in a dunk competition. Taking home the prize in the prestigious dunk contest was 6-2 guard Davion Spivey. Spivey outdid last year's winner, Young by one point in the finals. In last years' finals Spivey and Young faced off with Young coming away with the crown after jumping over a manager to make the dunk.  Also competing in the dunk competition, were Alandise Harris, Jacorey Williams and Michael Qualls.

The Razorbacks invited celebrity judges to judge the dunk competition and they included three current Razorback students and three former Razorbacks, Pat Bradley, Ronnie Brewer and Todd Day.

One of the most entertaining moments of the night, was the student dance competition, where six current Arkansas students faced off in a 30 second dance competition for a chance to win $1,000 from Pepsi. It was a tough competition with two finalists successfully doing the 'worm.' However the winning contestant ignited the crowd when he performed a back flip.

As part of the night's festivities, fans were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation and Razorback fans responded with 1,420 pounds going to the Full Circle Campus Food Pantry.

The next time to see the Razorbacks on the court will be in the Red-White game on October 30. Their next scheduled competition will be an exhibition game against Southwest Baptist.

The start of the Razorbacks' regular season will begin when they take on Sam Houston State in Fayetteville on Friday, Nov. 9. Season tickets for Razorback basketball are currently on sale at the Razorback Ticket Center by calling 1-800-982-Hogs or can be purchased on-line at ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
