As they said the pledge of allegiance, 35 people from 14 different countries started a whole new chapter in their lives as they took the final steps to be sworn in as citizens.

Juan Barcenas grew up in El Salvador and came to the U.S. when he was fifteen-years-old. Juan said he can't wait to embrace what he can now call his home.

"Oh my goodness, this is like, I feel like I am born again to the United States. For me to come from far away and be a citizen is like new life. It's incredible. It's the most important day in my life," said Juan.

This new American said he is thankful to wear the red, white and blue.

"I can't tell you how much I appreciate it to be a citizen," he said.

He is ready to take on what lay ahead.

"Every door I feel like is going to be open for me. Now, I can do a lot more things I haven't been able to do in the past. A lot of suffering in the past 23 years to become a citizen."
