The city of Rogers is looking at having six of its police officers trained in illegal immigration enforcement. Something that has some in the Hispanic community a little worried. The main reason? According to Northwest Arkansas businessman Jim Miranda, Rogers` mayor Steve Womack is using incorrect figures to explain why the new plan should be implemented. Womack says out of a total of fifty-seven drug related arrests since the start of 2005, 43 of those arrested were Hispanic and twenty-five were illegal. Those figures don`t add up, says Miranda. He says his research shows that most all the drug crimes committed in Rogers were committed by races other than Hispanics. Miranda met with Police Chief Helms on Tuesday as part of his research, but mayor Womack was unavailable for comment.
