"Toy For Cell"

By: JR Davis
Updated: October 25, 2012
If you have an old cell phone laying around, you can trade it in for a brand new toy. It's part of the "Toy For Cell" campaign in Benton County.

Many people let their children play with their old phones once they've been deactivated, but most aren't aware that those phones can still accidentally call 911 -- keeping dispatchers quite busy.

So emergency dispatchers from the Benton County Office of Emergency Management will at PAL's Haunted House at the Benton County Fairgrounds this Friday and Saturday (Oct. 26 and 27)from 7 pm to 11:30 pm in an effort to collect those old phones.

Just turn one in, and get a toy. It's that simple.
