"Black Friday" Campers

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
Some people just can`t wait until Friday morning to hit the stores for those "Black Friday" sales...and some even decided to camp out to ensure they get their hands on those must-have items. Although many stores close for Thanksgiving, Big Lots in Springdale decided to keep their doors open to shoppers, hoping to get a jump on the "Black Friday" madness. "We had fifteen at the door waiting this morning when we opened the doors. It got a little slow during the dinner time but after 2:00 it just started getting really busy," said store manager Cheri Keef. And over in Fayetteville, shoppers set up camp outside Best Buy...many hoping to get their hands on cheap laptops and televisions. "I canceled my plans cause my buddy called me up and said, you`ve got to get here, there`s people getting here," said Vince Clark, who arrived just before noon. The campers say they`re counting on card games and cell phones to get them through the night, but with frozen cappuccino`s and a generator to provide electricity, these guys are hardly roughing it. "This is part of the fun. Getting to buy electronics before everyone else does at a good price, that`s just a fringe benefit," Clark said. "My family members actually put in an order so I had to add a few things to my list," said camper Jared Roso.
