Cox Communications gave the center five computers with internet access, allowing the women there to find jobs, affordable housing and educational programs online. Before the new computers came in, the women had to leave the safety of the shelter to use computers at libraries and community centers.
"Some of our clients don't feel safe doing that and so that means they don't have access to somewhere to build a resume to look for jobs online," says Executive Director Melanie Palmer. "When we opened this lab it was immediately full, and it's stayed full ever since."
