If Halloween is a scary time for parents out there, there are a few phone apps that can ease those fears.

"There's still a scary moment every time you can't see your kid," says Robin Lehman, who has a 5 year old.

But there's an app for that. It's called Trick or Tracker, a Halloween themed program that uses GPS to keep tabs on your kids.

"It gives you the opportunity to be there without actually being there," says Sgt. Craig Stout with the Fayetteville Police Department.

And for mom's like Robin, checking her cell is nothing new.

"I have a smart phone so I'm constantly connected to my phone so I would totally download the app and use it," says Lehman.

There's several apps that can track family members, all you need to do is search child locator in your phone's app store.

That's not all, there are also programs like Offender Locator, a tool to help you steer clear from sex offenders.

"It's always a good idea to look at that information before you go trick or treating with your kids," says Stout.

And after you've downloaded all the new gadgets, there are still a few good rules to follow when you hit the streets.

"If you're trick or treating, you want to go in an area you are familiar with and only go to houses that are welcoming trick or treaters, that have porch lights on. Decorations, where it's obvious someone is welcoming them to trick or treat," says Stout.

The best part, you can get any of these apps for free. It's an easy way to make sure you have a safe and fun filled Halloween.
