New York Knick and former Hog Ronnie Brewer didn't know what to think when he heard a hurricane was headed to the Big Apple.
"To be honest with you, I thought people were joking with me when they said, 'Are you prepared for the hurricane', and I was like, 'Man, hurricanes can't come up to New York City, but then we started watching the news, you know they had been talking about it for a couple days, and as it got closer and closer, it got more imminent," Brewer says.
Brewer resides in a suburban community near the Hudson River.
'Where I live at right now, there's not as much damage, but watching the news, you can see that the city has been evacuated," Brewer says. "It's been raining pretty hard, something I haven't really experienced, kind of like similar to something of a tornado, but with a lot more rain, I think."
And the Arkansas native has made sure his folks back home, knows that he is safe.
"I've been talking to a lot of my friends, a lot of my family and just reassuring everybody that I'm OK."
