Graffiti decorates the outside of the mexican restaurant Casa Torres and the building next to it.
And it`s showing up in other places around town, even blatantly sprayed for everyone to see on Dickson Street in front of Collier`s Drug store.
"You know, in Fayetteville you just don`t see a whole lot of graffiti...it`s unusual when you have it on a store front or where it`s on a main traffic way," said Shannon Gabbard with Fayetteville Police.
He says graffiti tends to show up sporadically...and it`s usually a crime of opportunity.
Gabbard says their focus right now is to find out who put it there and why.
And although some of the graffiti alludes to gangs, police say it`s too early to determine if it`s actually gang related.
"As far as marking territory, setting up boundaries...no, we`ve not seen that."
