Van Buren Man Scores $250k Lottery Win

A Van Buren man has won $250,000 in the Mega Millions lottery.

James L. Miller bought a one-dollar ticket at the Pointer Express 2 in Van Buren for a drawing back in August, then left it sitting in a desk drawer of his house.

After moving his furniture around, Miller forgot about putting the ticket inside the desk but came across it again this week and remembered seeing a sign in the store where he bought the ticket that it had sold a $250,000 winner. Since he didn't recall checking the ticket, he took it to the store to have the clerk scan it. When it said to file a claim, he asked the clerk what that meant. After she told him, he called his son at home to ask him to get online to check his numbers on the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery website. He said "Dad you got all the numbers but one, I think you have won $250,000."

His reaction was "WOW"! Miller says he is going to pay off his mortgage with the winnings.

In other lottery news, millions are up for grabs in the next Mega Millions and Powerball drawings.

Tonight's Powerball jackpot is $143-million, and Friday's Mega Millions jackpot is $13-million.

You can watch both drawings live only on KARK 4 at 10 o'clock tonight and Friday night.
