Can Arkansas Actually Secede?

By: Jay Dillon
Updated: November 13, 2012
There's been a lot of talk about secession in the past couple of days, but what does it mean? That answer, plus a whole lot more as we take a look at the big stories from overnight.

Nobody Likes Mitt Romney
Facebook fans have been dropping at a rapid pace since he lost the race for the white house last week. According to CNN, his official fan page has been losing 11 fans per minute! There's even a website dedicated to Romney's rapid reduction. Disappearingromney.com tracks the declining number of fans in real-time.

Halo 4
It's a huge hit with gamers. In the first 24 hours of its release, the game racked up sales of more than $220 million around the world. The entire Halo franchise has made more $3.38 billion since the first game was released in 2001. Halo 4 was developed exclusively for Microsoft's XBox 360.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
From one shooter game to another. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was released this Tuesday morning at midnight. The online multiplayer game is the latest in the "Call of Duty" series. Both of these games come out just in time for the holiday shopping season and Black Ops 2 is expected to pull in even more sales than Halo 4.

Elmo
The voice of the Sesame Street puppet is responding to allegations that he had an inappropriate relationship with a teenager. For 27 years, Kevin Clash has been the voice behind Elmo, but now he's on leave from the children's show after a now-23-year-old man claimed he had a sexual relationship with Clash when the man was just 16 years old. In a statement, Clash admitted having a relationship with the man but not when the accuser was a teenager. Sesame Workshop says Clash is taking time off so he can take action to protect his reputation and, despite what happened, Elmo is bigger than him and will live on.

Secession
Arkansas is one of 22 states with folks who have signed petitions to secede from the United States. The signatures started popping up shortly after last Tuesday's election but do not explicitly cite President Obama's reelection. The chances of it happening are not good: in 1866 President Andrew Johnson signed a proclamation saying no state has a right or power to separate from the union.
