Trees For Charity

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
The holiday`s are approaching fast, and if you still haven`t bought a Christmas tree you might want to listen up....a club in Rogers is multi-tasking this season, making it possible for people to buy real Christmas trees and donate to charity all at once. For over 20-years the Rogers Optimist Club has gotten into the spirit of the holidays by selling trees for charity. And club members say it`s become a well-known tradition in the community. "We get repeat customers and they come just because it`s the Optimist Club that does it, plus we have pretty good trees," said club member Chris Harris. Price tags range from $45 to $110 depending on the size of the tree...and the club divides that money among several kid`s charities, including the NWA Children`s Shelter, Crossroads school, and even towards scholarships for Rogers High School students. Members say the tree lot is a simple way they can make a big difference. "This is such a tradition and it gets the whole club involved because everybody`s out here working at one time or another, it really gets us in the community."
