A nationwide search.

"All very strong candidates," says Board of Trustees Chairman, Alex Vasquez.

Narrowed down to one.

"We were able to reach a consensus to move forward with Dr. Jorgenson," Vasquez says.

Dr. Evelyn Jorgenson, selected to become the third president of Northwest Arkansas Community College.

"She comes in, first of all, from a similar size school," says Vice Chair of the Board, Joe Spivey.

After having spent the last 16 years as president of Moberly Area Community College in Missouri.

"She has a great academic background, leadership background, community involvement background," Vasquez says. "We just believe that she's a great fit for the college at this time."

The Board of Trustees voted unanimously Monday night for Jorgenson to take the reigns July 1, following the retirement of Dr. Becky Paneitz, whose served as president of the institution since 2003.

"We were excited to get the call, and I was very pleased to accept the offer," Dr. Jorgenson said during a phone interview.

"I look forward to all the opportunities that are there with a relatively new college."

Jorgenson is no stranger to the community college scene, she started out as a student herself in Missouri, working her way up the ranks to various administrative positions.

But next summer, she takes a seat behind the president's desk as the new leader, of Northwest Arkansas Community College.
