The Fayetteville and Fort Smith police departments' work with the Financial Crimes Task Force for the Western District of Arkansas paid off on Wednesday.

US Attorney Conner Eldridge and Revenue Service Special Agent in Charge Christopher Henry handed over more than $100,000 to the departments.

"It is exciting to be a part of providing funds to these worthy agencies that work so hard to battle and prevent illegal financial activity and other crime in our area," Eldridge says. "We appreciate the hard work of The Financial Crimes Task Force for the Western District of Arkansas in investigating the financial aspects of a wide variety of crimes and for seizing funds that are a part of criminal activity."

Chief of Police Greg Tabor received a check for $93,636.47 on behalf of the Fayetteville Police Department.

"I would like to thank the IRS and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the work they have done," Tabor says. "An asset sharing case of this magnitude is a great benefit to the Fayetteville Police Department and will be used for much needed equipment and training."
