LR Author Raising Money for Tiger Rescue

Updated: November 18, 2012
Thirty-four big cats are the focus of a rescue mission in Arkansas and a group of authors are doing what they can to raise money.

Based out of Little Rock the group raised just over 9 hundred dollars at a book signing for a collection of their short stories.

Fundraising efforts started earlier this week and they've already raised 8 thousand dollars to help move the animals at river glen tiger sanctuary to turpentine creek in eureka springs .
"The Diamond State Romance Authors wanted to do something because we've been out to the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Rescue and love what they're doing out there. They've got a great program to help home these animals and give them a place to live for the rest of their lives," says Elle James, the book author.
Turpentine Creek needs about seven thousand dollars for each of the 34 big cats. That's a total of 238 thousand dollars.

KNWA has been following this story here in Northwest Arkansas as Turpentine Creek moves 30 tigers, 2 cougars and 2 leopards.
