It's a feat for the big feasts, but these local meat market mavericks on their toes for turkey day.

"We have our stuff ordered way ahead of time. We placed our fresh turkey order about three months ago. I've reordered turkeys twice in the last week because I didn't have enough coming in. It's way more than normal," said Richard McGinnis, owner of Richard's Meat Market.

But the rush? Not a bad thing. Richard said the November numbers keep his business alive.

"Thanksgiving and Christmas is how you pay your bills in January, February, March and April when it's so slow. You have to have a good holiday season, you have to, or we'd be struggling," said Richard.

This pro, pitching in for those who aren't quite ready for the big day.

"We ask for our cooked turkey order to be in on this last Saturday, but I have a hard time telling people no. So, we took cooking orders yesterday. It just snuck up on people, really did just sneak up on people. It's the best time of the year," said Richard.
