Fayetteville Police Reminding People to Buckle Up

By: Marissa Stevens
Updated: November 21, 2012

If you are heading out of town for Thanksgiving, be sure to buckle up.

The Thanksgiving holiday is one of the busiest travel times of the year and the Fayetteville Police Department joined the national campaign "Buckle Up America. Every Trip Every Time."

Officers want to remind all travelers, whether it is a drive across the country or just down the street, be sure and buckle up every time.

Law enforcement will be cracking down on motorists who fail to wear their seat belts. During the 2010 Thanksgiving holiday, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 55-percent of those killed in car accidents were not wearing a seatbelt.
