Fayetteville Man Escapes Late-Night Fire with Minor Burns

A man escapes a late-night fire after being woken up by smoke Wednesday.

The Fayetteville Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Clemenger Drive just after 10 p.m.

Crews contained the flames in about 15 minutes after arriving, according to officials.

The man, who lives with his wife and five kids, was the only one home at the time of the fire. He says the rest of his family was out of town for Thanksgiving.

He says he woke up to smoke, saw flames and initially tried to fight the flames himself, which he says led to minor burns on his forehead.

The Fayetteville Fire marshal says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
