FAYETTEVILLE -- The University of Arkansas women's basketball team returned home to Bud Walton Arena and continued their winning ways, defeating Texas Southern 72-50. Arkansas (6-1) was led by career high performances by senior Kelsey Hatcher, who had 12 points, and freshman Dominique Wilson, who added 11 points.

Four players for the Razorbacks reached double digits, with Keira Peak and Sarah Watkins also contributing 12 points each. Watkins also led the team with six rebounds in the win over the Tigers (1-5).

"Always glad to get away with a win," said head coach Tom Collen. "We played a lot of players. They all stepped up, including Kelsey Hatcher."

Early in the game, Arkansas faced a 9-2 deficit. Watkins and Wilson came off the bench to combine for 13 quick points and ignite a 21-2 Razorback run to take a 23-13 lead.

Backed by late three pointers by Hatcher and Calli Berna, Arkansas took a 33-21 lead into the half. The Razorbacks shot 43.5% from the floor in the half and hauled in 19 rebounds.

Arkansas came out strong in the second half, opening on a 15-5 run that included seven points from Hatcher. The Razorbacks extended their lead using strong defense down the stretch.

"We were excited to be back home," Hatcher said. "We had to step up and re-focus and it was better. We had good shots that were not falling, so we had to step it up defensively."

UA dialed up the defensive pressure, forcing 24 turnovers in the game, resulting in 31 points. They shot 38% from the field and finished 13-18 from the free throw line.

"We needed to dictate on defense," said Collen. "If we cause turnovers it will help the transition game."

The Razorbacks are back in action on Sunday afternoon when they host the Pepperdine Waves at 2 p.m.
