Vanderbilt head football coach James Franklin has ended speculation that he will be moving to another school by announcing Sunday night that he is staying put with a new contract in place and a promise of facility upgrades.

SEC football columnist Clay Travis wrote Sunday that Franklin turned down an offer from the University of Arkansas of around five million dollars per year to fill the current vacancy at that school.

Several sources told the Razorback Nation that Arkansas did not make such an offer.

As the search for Arkansas new head football coach continued rumors swirled around Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy whose Cowboys ended their regular season Saturday with a 41-34 loss to Baylor.

Gundy was rumored to be in the mix for the Arkansas job as far back as October when word filtered out that his agent had reached out to Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long to inquire about the job.

Over the past few days there has been an indication from sources close to the coaching search that Boise State head coach Chris Petersen was Long's top target. Sunday there was almost no word on that situation. One source told the Razorback Nation that a coach turned Long down last night. That source said the coach in question was likely Petersen. Other sources continue to tell the Razorback Nation than nothing has changed with Petersen.

Keep in touch with KNWA/KARK and the Razorback Nation for continuing developments in the search for a new head coach at the University of Arkansas.
