Bret Bielema Wins Media & Fans at Press Conference

He looked the part, said the right things, and even called the Hogs. The University of Arkansas officially has a new head football coach. These are the seven stories you need to know about, before you head out the door.

With that first Hog Call, Bret Bielema makes his debut as the newest Razorbacks head coach. During Wednesday's press conference, he told the Razorback Nation's Aaron Peters his first Hog Call felt good. Beyond calling the Hogs, we learned more about the new coach, including his ties to the Natural State. Beilema grew up in Iowa but his aunt and uncle lived in Little Rock, and still do, plus, he's got a cousin living Fayetteville.

A Fayetteville man is found guilty of attempted murder against an officer. Sergio Andrade-Martinez was found guilty on eight charges of attempted murder against Fayetteville police officers. He was sentenced to 20 years for each count. Andrade-Martinez was also convicted and sentenced on two charges of aggravated assault, two charges of illegal possession of a firearm and other drug and gun related offenses. According to police, Andrade-Martinez fired shots at officers from the balcony of his Bedford Loop Apartment back in March. One officer was shot in the leg during the incident and required surgery before returning to work.

The grandparents of a two-year-old who died in a hot car are expected to head to trial Thursday. William and Margette Staten are charged with misdemeanor negligent homicide in connection with his death. Investigators say they took their great-grandson with them to the Springdale Walmart on Pleasant in August. The couple went inside and told police they forgot the child was in the car and thought they'd been in the store for about 45 minutes. But the investigation shows the two year old had been left in the car for more than two hours. When police arrived, the boy didn't have a pulse and was pronounced dead at Northwest Medical Center. If convicted, the Statens could each face a year in prison.

A Christmas classic is set to take the stage at Rogers Little Theater this week. "A Christmas Carol Today" debuts Friday and will shed a more modern light on the original "Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens. Performances are scheduled through December 16th. The show's director says crowds can expect quite a production. If you go, you might spot Fox News Edge's own Brad Reed, he's got a cameo in the play.

On Sunday, traffic in Fayetteville could get a little congested as runners pound the pavement. The annual Fayetteville Half Marathon starts at 7:00 Sunday morning and there are several road closures you need to know about. Click here to check out the entire list of closings.

After about a week of spring-like temperatures it's finally starting to look a lot like Christmas in Bentonville. Ice skating is now open again at the Rink at Lawrence Plaza. Officials shut it down Saturday as a result of unseasonable weather but crews spent Tuesday night making sure the ice was nice and frozen for skaters on Wednesday. The Rink at Lawrence Plaza will remain open as long as the temps stay cool until January 20th.
