FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas football team had three student-athletes voted to the SEC All-Freshman Team, it was announced Thursday.

Safety Rohan Gaines was joined on the team by linebackers Otha Peters and A.J. Turner, marking the third straight season Arkansas has had at least three members of the All-Freshman Team.

Gaines ranked third among the conference's freshmen with 75 tackles, the second-highest total on the team in 2012. The Bainbridge, Ga., native also tied for fourth among Razorbacks with four pass breakups and added one forced fumble and one quarterback hurry. Gaines appeared in all 12 games and made 10 starts. He made a career-high 11 tackles against Alabama in one of four games with nine or more tackles and recorded a career-high three pass breakups at No. 12 South Carolina.

Peters played in 10 games as a true freshman and started the final three games, ending the season with 32 tackles, 0.5 sack, and two quarterback hurries. The Covington, La., native made his first start at South Carolina and registered a career-high eight tackles and one quarterback hurry. He matched that stat line the next week at Mississippi State, totaling half of his season tackles in his first two starts.

Turner saw action in all 12 games with starts in each of the last six in 2012. He finished the season ranked fifth on the team with 53 tackles, including 3.5 for loss with 1.0 sack. The Lepanto, Ark., native wrapped up his 2012 campaign with career-high totals in tackles and tackles for loss with 12 and 1.5, respectively, against No. 8 LSU. Turner also registered 10 total tackles at Ole Miss in his second career start.
