A coalition of governors across the nation met with President Barack Obama, including Arkansas' own Mike Beebe, to talk about how they don't want federal cuts to shift the cost of services to the states.

The coalition of three Republican and three Democratic governors called on the President to protect middle class families from tax hikes set to kick in at the beginning of January that could hurt fragile state economies

"The states are willing to share the sacrifice, we don't want to take it all, we are willing to do our part. We don't need shifting, we don't need cuts on the federal level that merely require taxes on the state level," Beebe said.

The Bush-era tax cuts are expected to expire on Jan. 1 unless congress can make a deal.
