Dropping temps might also start affecting your commute.

The Washington County Road Department is setting out piles of "chat" on the side of hilly roads just in case of a freeze.

"Chat" is like gravel so  when the roads ice over, it helps give vehicles traction.

The road department says it's important to remember to drive slow and use the "chat" to get to your destination safely.

The Benton County Road Department also hard at work preparing for the dipping temperatures.

According to the department, they have stashes of sand and salt    with trucks on standby, even graters in case of snow and ice.

Crews also have magnesium chloride ready to pre-treat the roads and are now just waiting for the weather to move in.
