Police say they have a man in custody following Sunday's brutal triple murder in Arkadelphia. These are the seven stories you need to know about - before you head out the door.

The man who Clark County deputies say killed three people in Arkadelphia woke up in jail Monday morning. 19-year-old Riakos Lizana was arrested Saturday night. He now faces three counts of capital murder after a man and his two step-daughters were found dead in an Arkadelphia home Friday morning. Lizana has been on probation for a felony theft charge that happened over the summer.

The countdown is on to the looming "fiscal cliff." Can lawmakers make a deal to keep your taxes down before the end of the year? Word from the white house is that President Obama and Speaker Boehner met Sunday to figure out a financial fix. Meanwhile, the head of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde, got tough on the Sunday morning talk shows, warning  that failure to reach a deal on the "fiscal cliff" will have far-reaching consequences for the American economy. Hundreds of alcohol permit applications are pouring into Benton County, since the county went wet. That means more alcoholic beverage control agents are moving into our area. The application process couldn't get started until the election results were certified now, agents are working overtime to move applicants through the process, but not everyone will get the green light. Agents aren't just verifying paperwork, they're also running background checks and fingerprints on every applicant.

If you're drinking during the holidays, don't drive. The Benton County Sheriff's Office, cracking down on impaired driving this month. Deputies will set up sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols. Those start December 14th and run through January 1st. During 2010, the Sheriff's Office says more than 10,000 people were killed nationwide in crashes involving alcohol.

Colder temps could make driving more dangerous. Ahead of a big freeze, the Washington County Road Department is already setting out piles of chat on the side of hilly roads, just in case. Chat is like gravel, so when the roads ice over, it helps give your car better traction. Meanwhile, the Benton County Road Department has stashes of sand and salt, trucks on standby, and even graters in case of snow and ice. Crews also have magnesium chloride ready to pre-treat the roads and are now just waiting for the weather to move in.

The biggest cold front of the season has passed over Northwest Arkansas. The Salvation Army in Fayetteville and Bentonville have extra beds ready at their warming centers. Their severe weather shelters will open once the air temperature stays below 23 degrees. When that happens, the shelter will remain open 24 hours a day and provide meals. Until then, about 40 beds are available for men, women and families to stay from 4:30 in the afternoon until 7:30 the next morning.

There's a new winner in the third annual Fayetteville Half Marathon. Hundreds of runners from across the country pounded the pavement Sunday at the John McDonnell Outdoor Track Complex. UALR graduate John Purvis took the top spot in the Half Marathon, finishing in just over an hour. The Half Marathon wrapped up with a post-race celebration sponsored by Hog Haus and Common Grounds. The event also featured a community fundraiser 5k and a one-mile fun run.
