"I've known Bret for a long time and I know how he coaches and what he beleives in and those are consistent with my thoughts and beliefs." new defensive coordinator Chris Ash says.
Team defense was a disaster in 2012, fittingly enough the first piece in the Arkansas coaching puzzle reunites Bielema with Ash.
"Our system here and what it is built on is effort and fundamentals, we're going to get our guys to play as hard as they can possibly play as fast as they can possibly play. You win games by running to the football, getting off blocks and being able to tackle."
Wisconsin's defense ranked in the top 20 nationally each of the last three years, former Badger Dee-line coach Charlie Partridge joins Bielema and Ash in attempt to shift their Big Ten success to the SEC.
"Anyone who is a competitior wants a chance to be a part of a conference like that," defensive line coach Charlie Partridge explains. "I'm excited to experience everything it's about. Certainly I've had a chance to look at the depth chart, I'm excited to see what those guys can do, I'm excited to see what those guys can do, I'm excited to get to know the underclassmen and get to work."
Continiuty will be a key element with three former Wisconsin coaches on defense, offensively coordinator Jim Chaney and line coach Sam Pittman can expect to be on the same page from day one after sharing the sideline last year at Tennessee.
