New details have come to light today about an interview ford granted to the Washington Post two years ago.
Before he died, former President Gerald Ford criticized the Bush administration, calling the War in Iraq a mistake. In a 2004 interview with Bob Woodward, ford even rebuked his own former chiefs of staff, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld.
"I think Rumsfeld, Cheney and the president made a big mistake in justifying going into the War in Iraq. They put the emphasis on weapons of mass destruction."
Ford told Woodward he could release those comments publicly after his death.
Today the White House had no comment even as President Bush met with his top advisors to discuss the War in Iraq.
KNWA spoke with local congressman John Boozman about what he thought of fords term in the white house. "He had a reputation for working on both sides."
Boozman says Ford was respected by both republicans and democrats and lead the country during a difficult time. "He did a tremendous job of keeping the country calm, you trusted him."
