5.  The Jersey Bridgeman Murder Investigation

On November 20th, police began an early morning search for a missing 6-year-old Bentonville girl.  A short time later the body of Jersey Bridgeman was discovered in a vacant house just two doors down from the home where she lived with her mother.  After an intensive 6-day investigation that included help from the FBI, Bentonville police had a neighbor, 28 year-old Zachary Holly, in custody.  He was later charged with kidnapping, rape and capital murder.

The community was stunned by the death of the young girl.  Hundreds attended her funeral and candlelight vigil.  At Jersey's elementary school, teachers and faculty honored her life and attempted to council and support students with questions about Jersey.

Holly was denied bond at a hearing in late November. His arraignment is scheduled for January 7th.
