For folks struggling to stay warm this winter, the Low Income Heating and Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) opens Monday.
According to the Economic Opportunity Agency, the program helps low income households with their energy costs in the winter.
Payments are made directly to utility companies, allowing households in Northwest Arkansas that use electricity, natural gas, wood, or propane to heat their homes.
The program begins Monday, January 7, and assistance is given until the available funds are depleted.
EOA offers assistance for Washington County only, but other counties offer similar programs.
