Thousands Without Power in Benton County

By: Jay Dillon
Updated: January 8, 2013
A large power outage in Benton County is leaving more than 5,000 people in the dark Tuesday afternoon.

SWEPCO is reporting 5,097 customers are currently without power. According to SWEPCO spokesperson Peter Main, that is about 25% of its Benton County customers.

Main says, there is an equipment problem with one of their substations in Rogers and they are working to identify and correct it.

Main says they believe they've found the cause of the problem but they have to be sure of it before they can complete repairs and re-energize the station.

He says customers can monitor the outage status at the map on their website here.
