Walmart said Wednesday it will take part in a meeting with Vice President Biden's gun violence task force after all.

The retail giant originally said executives couldn't attend Thursday's meeting because they had to be at monthly sales meetings at its Bentonville headquarters.  But the decision was widely scrutinized, with many questioning how Walmart could be a part of the discussion without listening to what other parties were saying at the White House.

In response to the criticism, Walmart said it would attend. Biden's panel was formed in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting.

The panel will give recommendations on how to prevent another mass shooting.
