County Jails Looking for Financial Help from State Prison System

County jails across the state of Arkansas are saying they're tired of spending money on state prisoners.

Now a new bill could offer some relief.

Jails generally bear the expense of taking inmates to court and back, but representative Marshall Wright wants the state prison system to pay for it.

The bill would also make the state responsible for taking inmates to court when prison officials attend hearings.
