SPECIAL REPORTS: Human Trafficking Awareness Day

January 11th is Human Trafficking Awareness Day, in fact President Obama has declared all of January National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.

Now, nonprofits are asking the Obama administration to renew the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), which would provide resources for those trying to protect the 27 million people who are considered modern-day slaves engaged in forced labor and sex. TVPA expired in 2011.

A White House release marking January as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month called upon businesses, religious groups and families to learn more about the fight against trafficking.
