Tubert leads Arkansas in Mexico

CALOCAYA, Mexico- University of Arkansas women's golfer Emily Tubert paced five Razorbacks to top 25 finishes at the LXXXVIII Mexican Women's Amateur Championship at the Club de Golf Bellavista in Calocaya, Mexico, this week.

Tubert, a Burbank, Calif., native, posted a final round two-under 70, for 290 over the four-day event. She finished as the tournament's runner-up with rounds of 70-75-76-69-70.

Freshman Regina Plasencia, a native of Guadalajara, Mexico, finished third overall with four-round 297 that included rounds of 73-76-75-73. Countrywoman and fellow freshman Gabriela Lopez finished fourth overall shooting 74-71-70-73 for 298.

Razorback sisters Emma and Olivia Lavy rounded out the scores this week. Emma Lavy, a senior for the Razorbacks, shot 80-79-77-73 for 309. She was 15th overall. Freshman Olivia carded 81-79-76-79 for 315 and 23rd place.

The Razorbacks return to collegiate action Feb. 12-14, taking part in the Puerto Rico Golf Classic in rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
