Springdale police announced on Tuesday that they will no longer provide escorts for funerals.

This decision was made as a result of a study that suggested the population growth in Springdale and a drain on the department's manpower are both preventing the department from providing safe escorts.

Arkansas doesn't actually have a law giving funeral processions the right of way.
