After months of hype, three new judges, and a seven city search -- American Idol season 12 is finally here.

But getting to this point didn't come without controversy.

New judges Mariah Carry Nicki Minaj pumped new life into the talent competition in September when they arrived in New York and promptly got into a fight.  Keith Urban says the judges are just passionate.

"Definately the passion level is there and the love we have for the artists," says Urban.

Nikki and Mariah are now focusing away from the fued, and turning their attention to the contestants.

"I've learned how to say 'you know what, I think this is for you at home with your friends.  I don't think this is a career choice for you.' And that's hard to say," says Carry.

"I just want to diversify the contestants," says Minaj. "I want to make sure that we are not passing people by because they're different because sometimes those different people are the people that change a generation."

In former Idol news season 10 winner Scotty McCreery is ready to send fans some new tunes.

"We're getting ready for it," says McCreery.  "I was just talking to my manager and we are getting the songs compiled in one spot so i can keep listening to them and picking the ones I like."

Look out for more music from Scotty on the radio in the months ahead.
