The Northwest Arkansas Children's Safety Center received a big boost to their funds thanks to families across the area.

Representatives from J.B. Hunt and the Arkansas Missouri Railroad raised more than $30,000 through the annual Children's Christmas Train Rides held back on December 1.

One volunteer said he loves seeing smiles on the kids faces, and being able to donate money to a deserving charity is just icing on the cake.

"Their life is helping our children in Northwest Arkansas all year long. If there's just a little we can do to make their job a little easier, it's just a double bonus for us," said Michael Dougherty.

This was the 9th year for the Christmas Train donation, and more than 1,900 riders participated this year.
