The tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary has stirred a debate state lawmakers must now face.

Last week we told you about a bill to allow guns in church, and on Wednesday, it ran into some opposition in committee.

The Church Protection Act would give churches the right to decide if members can bring in a concealed carry weapon. Some lawmakers wanted to amend the measure making churches who allowed guns to carry a $100,000 liability insurance policy.

In the end the committee killed that amendment and approved the Church Carry Bill.

It now goes to the full Senate.
