Last week the Sporting News came out with an article that has Hog football fans up in arms. The article quoted former Razorback football coaches being critical of the University of Arkansas administration for only giving John L. Smith a 10 month contract after Bobby Petrino was fired.

Paul Petrino was quoted as saying. "I dont think an A.D. should ever hire somebody for 10 months. It hurts the power of the head coach and the asistants. They should have hired (Smith) for two years or hired somebody els for two year or just (expletive) - canned all of us." Paul Petrino also stated that he believed some players quit on the season. "A couple senior said they were hurt and I don't know if they really were."

Petrino was the offensive coordinator for Arkansas last season.  Smith was quoted in the same article as saying, "You look back and yeah a little more time would've been nice. Does that give you more teeth? Yes."

Paul Haynes, the defensive coordinator for Arkansas last season was also quoted saying, "Even if they had a plan to get rid of us no matter what, which I think they did, you say two years and I think the kids dig in. When you give 10 months, everyone is walking on egg shells"

Smith stopped by the Razorback Nation studio on Sunday to address the comments made by himself and the other coaches.  He also discussed the 2012 season, his new job in Colorado and what he thinks about new Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema and his coaching staff.
